Approval procedure for the capacity expansion of a zinc smelter

  • Project description: The operators of the zinc smelter planned to increase the production capacity of the plant. As part of the increase in production capacity, modifications and additional equipment were to be added. The aim was not to increase the emissions from the plant. The planned expansion required a licence in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), including an environmental impact assessment in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (UVPG).
  • Our services: Coordination of the necessary official procedures, preparation of a scoping document for the environmental impact assessment (EIA), monitoring of the scoping procedure and preparation of the report on the environmental impact assessment, preparation of the application documents for selected chapters of the BImSchG application, integration of the building application and compilation and finalisation of the application documents for the complete BImSchG application as well as preparation of an initial status report (preliminary assessment and phase 1).
